This dissertation uses an intersectional framework (c.f. Kimberlé Crenshaw) to problematize the relation to race and the popular notion of mestizaje (as it is described in Roberto Fernández Retamar’s essay ‘Caliban’) of Oswald de Andrade’s ‘Manifesto Antropófago’.
